The ERUdyne team brings together world-class professionals with experience in private industry, federal government, and academia.  For each client, we form a team that best addresses the client's knowledge sharing and business objectives.  By bringing together a team to address the critical business issues such as country or business area (sales, marketing, customer service) specific needs, ERUdyne provides fully customized, targeted training and consulting that best serves our clients.

The management of ERUdyne is shared between the two key principals of the company. The founder, Daria I. Novak, serves as President and is focused on managing customer relationships, driving content delivery, and leading product development. The other key principal, Suzanne C. Novak, serves as Executive Vice President, and is focused on building partner relations, managing day-to-day operations, and driving business strategy and execution.  Bios of these two people can be found below.

Daria I. Novak, President

Ms. Novak is President of ERUdyne, an international cross-cultural, business management training and consulting firm, located in the United States in Connecticut.  She specializes in helping organizations to leverage culture and turn it into a competitive advantage.  Ms. Novak travels extensively across the United States and throughout the world teaching, consulting, and lecturing on global business management and cross-cultural awareness to organizations across the public, private, and university sectors.   She also is a professor of Chinese Studies, Political Science and Cultural Factors on Global Security at several Universities in Connecticut such as University of Connecticut and University of New Haven.

Ms. Novak received an MA in Political Science from the University of Southern California and is a graduate of the U.S. Foreign Service Institute and Georgetown University’s Institute of Comparative Economic and Political Systems.  She received a BA in International Affairs from the University of Wyoming and certification in advanced Chinese language studies at Taiwan National Normal University in Taipei.  She did her PhD work at the University of Southern California and the University of Connecticut and post-grad research at Harvard University.

Prior to founding ERUdyne, Ms. Novak was a manager in the Technology Practice at META Group.  She specialized in knowledge management, risk/vulnerability assessments, IT-business performance standards and contracting. 

From 1979 to 1989, Ms. Novak served in career and political positions at the U.S. Department of State in Washington, DC and overseas.  In 1989, she served as Senior Coordinator for the Secretary of State’s 300-member China Task Force handling the crisis in Tiananmen Square and as a U.S. government spokesperson.  She received a Meritorious Honor Award from the Undersecretary of State for her “core leadership role in managing the crisis” in China.  Ms. Novak has traveled extensively in Asia and was a member of then-Vice President Bush’s White House Advance Team.

Ms. Novak received a Superior Honor Award, the highest given by the State Department, from the Assistant Secretary of State for Inter-American Affairs, for her involvement in saving American lives in Haiti during the fall of Haitian President Duvalier.  Secretary of State George Shultz awarded her a Meritorious Honor Award for her substantive contributions to the August 1982 U.S.-China Joint Communique, one of the main documents governing U.S. relations with China.

Ms. Novak has served on the Board of Directors of the Association of Former Intelligence Officers, Women in World Trade, the California-Taiwan Trade and Investment Council, the California-USSR Trade Association, and the Hong Kong Association of Southern California.  She is a member of the American Society of Training and Development, the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association, InfraGard, and the Association for Asian Studies.  She was a contributing writer to The Encyclopedia on World Terrorism, 2002 Edition.  She has published numerous articles and currently is working on a book entitled, “Managing Across National Cultures: A Pragmatic Framework for Leading Groups to Success.”

Suzanne C. Novak, Executive Vice President

Ms. Novak brings over twenty-three years of management and consulting experience in the areas of business operations including customer care, business continuity planning, disaster response/recovery, marketing and public relations, business development.  Ms. Novak joined ERUdyne in February 2001 as Executive Vice President.  In June 2001, Ms. Novak became a partner in the company when ERUdyne, LLC was formed.  Ms. Novak is responsible for all business operations for ERUdyne, LLC.  Additionally she provides her business expertise to clients dealing with homeland security, business continuity, risk mitigation, and emergency response/recovery planning issues.  In September 2005, Ms. Novak became a Disaster Assistance Employee (Reservist) for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). 

Prior to joining ERUdyne, Ms. Novak, as Vice President of Marketing for Metaserver (a business process integration software company), served on the Executive Team, and was responsible for the development and execution of the strategic marketing direction of the company, including playing an instrumental role in writing the business plan that was used to secure $25M in funding for the company. Previously, Ms. Novak held management positions at META Group, including Senior Director of Marketing and Director of META Metrix .  Prior to joining META Group, Ms. Novak held management positions in consulting and client service at Gartner Group and Real Decisions (this company was acquired by Gartner Group).  Earlier in her career, Ms. Novak held both telecommunications/operations management positions with, and provided consulting to, numerous public and private sector companies in a broad range of industries, such as the Federal Government, financial services, national associations, utilities, and telecommunications.

Ms. Novak has completed courses through FEMA including Incident Command, the National Incident Management System (NIMS), and the National Response Plan (NRP).  Ms. Novak attended Arizona State University, majoring in communications, and continued her education by completing business management and operations courses, in addition to receiving telecommunications design and implementation certifications from numerous telecommunications platform companies.

Ms. Novak participates in several Working Groups involved in developing the National Strategy for Homeland Security (prevention, mitigation, response and recovery).  She is very active in the local business community and in national organizations that focus on increasing our Nation’s security.  Ms. Novak serves as President of InfraGard Connecticut and is an active member of the Governor’s Small Business Advisory Council in Connecticut.  She is active in the National InfraGard organization developing relationships with the leadership of InfraGard Chapters around the Nation. Additionally, Ms. Novak is a speaker at numerous industry events.  In 2005, Ms. Novak won the prestigious Linda Franklin Award, named for the FBI employee responsible for rolling out the InfraGard progam who was killed by the Washington DC snipers.  Additionally, Ms. Novak was named as a finalist in the first annual “Women of Innovation” Awards (2005), sponsored by the Connecticut Technology Council.  Ms. Novak just finished writing her first novel entitled “Moon Tide.”
